Stockton couple accused of selling pirated DVDs

A Stockton couple was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal copyright infringement and trademark violation for allegedly running a massive DVD piracy ring.

The Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force, along with U.S. Attorney's Office and the U.S. Secret Service worked together to bust the alleged ring.

Arrested were 48-year-old Jesus Becerra Huerta and 39-year-old Rosa Isela Huerta.

Investigators said the Huertas were illegally distributing counterfeit movie DVDs and music CDs from locations in Stockton and San Jose. More than 50,000 counterfeit items were seized from a storefront location in Stockton, authorities said.

The titles the Huertas were allegedly selling included Deuce Bigalow European Gigalo, The Wedding Crashers, Four Brothers, The Island, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Transporter 2, and others. Most movies were sold for $2 each.

If convicted, the Huertas could face as much as 10 years in prison, a fine of $2 million or both.
