Prosecutor Training Grant

In May 2002, the Task Force was awarded a grant from the Governor's Office of Criminal Justice Planning for the High-Technology Theft Prosecution Education Program.  This funding is directed at the statewide training of prosecutors throughout California in the successful investigation and prosecution of high technology and computer-based crimes.

The grant was successfully completed and a CD was distributed to District Attorney’s Offices throughout California.  The California High-Technology Crime Prosecutor Resource CD-ROM contains a wealth of information about email and the legal issues affecting cases involving criminal acts and the misuse of email. 

In 2004, the Task Force was awarded a grant from the University of
Mississippi to update the original CD. A new section on Internet chat was added. In addition to resources for California prosecutors,
resources for Washington state and federal prosecutors were also
included on the revision.
